NINFAS DE MRKH
(Nymphs of MRKH)Developed from research surrounding MRKH syndrome, MRKH Nymphs is a 28-page handmade textile artist's book created between 2016 and 2017. Drawing on testimonies gathered from women diagnosed with Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome—a condition characterized by the congenital absence of the uterus and vaginal canal—the work transforms intimate narratives into a collective material archive.
Constructed entirely from discarded clothing and fabric fragments contributed by these women, alongside those of the artist's mother and sister, the book weaves together personal and familial histories across its pages. Bringing together the perspective of an art conservator and artist, the work preserves the material essence of these experiences, examining how medical discourse constructs narratives around the female body while probing the intersections of gender, absence, and bodily identity.
In 2018, the project was presented for admission to the fine arts university, where the artist entered with honors and was awarded third place.
