MUY PERSONAL

(Very Personal)

A 27-page handmade textile artist’s book that reconfigures archival testimonies from Peru’s forced sterilization campaign into a tactile system of reading. Entirely hand-embroidered and hand-bound, the work shifts bureaucratic and testimonial records into textile form, where stitching functions as both inscription and interruption.

Rather than illustrating historical events, the book examines how institutional violence is materially produced, transmitted, and remembered. Each page slows the act of reading, inviting the viewer to navigate between document and object, archive and body, evidence and intimacy.

Conceived as a sequential textile archive, Muy Personal proposes the artist’s book as a site where reproductive politics, material culture, and collective memory converge, questioning the mechanisms through which official histories are constructed, preserved, and contested.
